Dear Horst,
We can fit all this in by altering the timings to suit.
Some presentations are more important than others, especially those with a technological bias and the timings for these can be extended. Presentations can be geared to PowerPoint slide shows linked to big screens, with supporting information given as handouts before, during or where appropriate after the presentations. By submitting written information after the conference where needed, pressure can be taken off presenters and the information can be edited later for publication of the proceedings by Victor and CISP.
Where presenters have come from abroad they need to be given extra time if they wish, to appreciate their efforts in getting to the conference and in recognition that their time is limited and it may be some time before we can talk to them in person or have them infront of a group again.
Some presentations can be briefer if we need to save time, because after the talk and presentation alerts attenders to the nature of work being carried out, it can be discussed later at our convenience. Since work can be brought on a memory stick, a more detailed presntation can be given to a subgroup of attendees in the evening on laptops away from our main venue, perhaps back at the Hall of Residence. Many hotels and pubs in Aberystwyth have big screens that can be linked to laptops, so we can extend our meetings at our leisure at other venues over coffee or a drink. This will be especially useful for attendees who arrive a day early for the conference or are staying a day later. Also, some of us may be able at a later time in Myron’s house, to tie up any loose ends and to edit material for publication.
We also need to find where Doug will have his slot or slots.
Best Wishes
Kerry
